Gordon Jackson, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Y Block Protective Services, began doing security at the age of nine when he walked into Schinotti’s convenience store in Otisville, New York in 1981.
Gordon observed kids stealing candy bars and lollipops from the display and immediately notified Mrs. Schinotti, the owner of her family business. Mrs. Schinotti immediately offered him a job sweeping and cleaning the store after school and she paid him with a hamburger and french fries each day. That was Gordon’s first assignment.
In 1993, Gordon graduated from The State University of New York, College at New Paltz with a B.A. in Political Science. After working as an assistant to the Vice President of Community Corrections at Esmore Incorporated, he went on to obtain his master’s degree in Human Development from Binghamton University in 1995.
After spending 10 years in the pharmaceuticals industry, working for Johnson & Johnson and Abbott Laboratories in their psychology and mental health divisions, Gordon transitioned back to working with at-risk and vulnerable populations. His work included supervision of federal inmates, New York City probationers and New York State parolees. Gordon would later go on to manage day-to-day operation of 450 security guards across 31 sites.
As the youngest of six children, Gordon was always taught to be honest, work hard and seek the best solutions. He currently volunteers in his community, and is a youth wrestling coach.
